ABORIGINAL HOUSING
Currently ONPHA members include 35 urban (off-reserve) Aboriginal housing providers from across the province (representing 93% of all Aboriginal units in Ontario). Aboriginal housing providers have similar challenges as Supportive Housing providers that require them to provide assistance and housing supports beyond rent subsidies. Aboriginal tenants tend to have very low income levels and many suffer from addictions and mental health issues.
